From SEO to GEO.
OnCited started as a notebook of frustration.
Our founders spent 15+ years inside the SEO industry — building practices, running agencies, ranking sites for brands of every size. We watched Google evolve from blue links, to featured snippets, to People Also Ask, to AI Overviews. Every shift, the same dance: read the algorithm, find the patterns, do the work, prove the lift.
Then ChatGPT happened. And Perplexity. And Gemini. And Claude. The rules we'd spent 15 years mastering changed overnight — except we recognized the patterns. AI engines cite sources. Sources can be earned. Visibility can be measured. The mechanics were new; the work was familiar.
We took the playbook into AI search and worked with 500+ brands navigating the shift — figuring out which sources each engine cites, what content gets recommended, what moves the score and what doesn't. We learned what worked. We learned what didn't.
The frustrating part: every existing tool stopped at a dashboard. Visibility scores. Source lists. Charts. None of them told brands what to do next.
So we built OnCited — a tracking platform with an action layer baked in, plus a Ranking Service that actually publishes you where AI is reading. The tool we'd been wishing for, while running the work ourselves.
